Salmon fishing is being restricted on a portion of the Shuswap River near Enderby.

The provincial government is closing a small section of the Shuswap River around Trinity Bridge to angling to protect migrating chinook salmon.

The closure runs 50 metres upstream and 50 metres downstream of the bridge, near Enderby, and is in effect from Wednesday to Nov.  15. Fisheries and Oceans Canada has closed the same section to chinook angling.

“The closure will prevent people from fishing off the bridge, which was  disrupting the ongoing salmon spawn,” states a release.
