North Okanagan residents are urged to prepare in advance for potential flooding.
Sand and sand bags are currently in a number of locations.
With the current snow melt and rain in the forecast, North Okanagan residents are reminded that they are responsible for all measures required for flood protection of private property,” said Brent Watson, with North Okanagan Emergency Management.
The locations for sand and sand bags are:
Armstrong: Public works yards, 2950 Patterson Ave.
Coldstream: Kalamalka Road, at Postill Drive, and School Road, across from Jeffers Park.
Enderby: Public works yard, 2309 McGowan St.
Lumby: The gravel parking lot across from the curling club, 2230 Shields Ave.
Spallumcheen: Public works yard, 1511 Eagle Rock Rd.
Vernon: Sand and sandbags are available at the city yards (outside of the main gate on Pleasant Valley Road) and at the corner of Okanagan Avenue and Okanagan Landing Road.
Sand bags are available at the city hours at 1900 48th Ave. during work hours and at the Vernon fire hall after hours.
“Staff will continue to monitor the flood risk through the spring run-off season, and establish additional sand and sandbag sites if warranted,” said Watson.
