Provincial funding is being pumped into local schools to improve water systems and flooring.
The Vernon School District is receiving $117,500 while the North Okanagan-Shuswap district is getting $196,876.
“Through the School Enhancement Program, we are continuing to deliver on our commitment to help school districts protect, preserve and extend the life of their schools,” said Mike Bernier, education minister.
“We are doing this to ensure that our students have the secure, safe and comfortable environment they need to succeed.”
The money in the Vernon district will help upgrade plumbing lines and fixtures at 13 schools where lead in the lines has been a concern.
“Sometimes small upgrades can make a big difference,” said Eric Foster, Vernon-Monashee MLA.
In the North Okanagan-Shuswap, the funds will allow Enderby’s A.L. Fortune Secondary School to upgrade its flooring.
