RCMP are reminding motorists to think twice before driving with a lead foot in the North Okanagan.

On Nov. 17 at approximately 3 p.m. a member of the Integrated Road Safety Unit (IRSU) was driving northbound on Hwy 97 in Vernon when he saw a 2015 red Corvette pull onto the highway from 27th Street.

The car quickly accelerated until it was going 160 km/hr in a 90 km/hr zone.

The car was impounded for seven days and the adult male driver is facing charges of excessive speeding and failure to produce a driver's licence.

"Driving that fast makes you a danger to yourself and everyone else around you," said Cst Dobernigg of IRSU. "We take excessive speeding very seriously, and you never know where we might be."
