The Kalamalka Rotary Club's Dream Auction Nov. 19 will support the Okanagan Rail Trail.

This is no trick, a Halloween treat has been  announced for the Okanagan Rail Trail thanks to one special evening which will generate double the matching dollars.

The Kalamalka Rotary Club is holding its 32nd annual Dream Auction Nov. 19, which the trail will be a major recipient of.

Plus, Kal Rotary is pledging to match up to $25,000 from the auction proceeds, to match the funds raised by the Okanagan Rail Trail Committee at the Dream Auction that evening.

“This will equate to a contribution of a combined $50,000 towards the rail trail,” said Brian Reid, Kal Rotary President.

But the support doesn’t stop there.

There is currently a matching offer from anonymous donors for the trail which is due to expire Monday. That offer will be honoured based on the irrevocable donation pledge by Kalamalka Rotary.

“This means that the $50,000 donation will be matched by these donors, and the total contribution to the Okanagan Rail Trail will now be $100,000,” said Reid.

With this early Halloween treat, Kal Rotary is urging all who attend the sold-out Dream Auction to contribute to make this a reality.

“We hope to raise a lot of money,” said Reid.

There will be a distinct portion of the Dream Auction dedicated to the fundraising for the Okanagan Rail Trail, in conjunction with the usual format.

Tax receipts will be issued for all Okanagan Rail Trail donations during this special portion of the evening.

The Dream Auction is the largest fundraising event of the Kalamalka Rotary Club, and has raised approximately $200,000 annually for local and international projects from the money raised at the annual gala.
