For the second time in as many days, Interior Health has announced that Oliver hospital’s emergency department will be closed due to a doctor shortage.

Emergency services at the South Okanagan General Hospital will be unavailable from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, IH said.

This marks the emergency department’s sixth closure since Nov. 23, including a 24-hour shutdown starting the evening of Dec. 1 and into the morning of Dec. 2.

Patients can access care at the Penticton Regional Hospital during this time.

Emergency services at the hospital have been unavailable since 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1. The department will re-open at 6 p.m. on Saturday, before having to close again on Sunday morning.

All other inpatient services will continue as normal at South Okanagan General Hospital, IH said.
