One person killed in highway crash

One person died in a two-vehicle collision near Falkland Friday afternoon that closed Highway 97 in both directions.

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP and North Okanagan Traffic Services officers were called to a two-vehicle collision 10 kilometres east of Falkland late Friday afternoon.

The collision involved a semi-truck and a personal vehicle, said RCMP.

The driver of the personal vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi suffered minor injuries.

No names or hometowns have been released.

An RCMP traffic reconstructionist was called to the scene.

The highway was closed for a few hours, then open to single-lane traffic before being fully re-opened just before Midnight.
