Oyama forum set

Oyama residents will get a chance to hear directly from those wanting to represent them on Lake Country council.

The Oyama Community Hall will be the site of a forum Thursday at 7 p.m. for the mayoralty, councillor-at-large and Oyama ward seat candidates.

“Each candidate will be given two minutes for an opening statement or comments,” said Chris Sheel, OCC vice-president.

“After the opening speech there will be two pre-defined questions — what is your vision for Oyama and what is your five-year plan for Lake Country?”

After this, members of the audience will be able to ask the candidates questions.

“After the official forum ends, we’ll let people stick around and socialize directly for a bit if they want,” said Sheel.

“Also, we will set up a table by the door for candidates to leave their handouts on for people to be able to pick-up when they arrive.”
