Park consultations in play

The City of Vernon is currently developing a parks master plan

Vernon residents can provide input on parks at a number of locations this summer.

The City of Vernon is currently developing a parks master plan and consultation stations will be  at Foothills Park Friday from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Sawicki Park Friday from 2 to 4:30 p.m., the Vernon Farmers Market July 28 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Kin Beach July 29 from 9:30 a.m. until noon and Polson Park July 31 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

“Drop by any of the following events to receive information on the parks master plan process and help shape the future of local parks in Vernon,” said Tanya Laing Gahr, the city’s communications co-ordinator.

Numerous people have signed up to become Vernon park ambassadors in August and September.

“Local resident volunteers will be out in local parks monitoring park usage at different times of the day and different days of the week,” said Laing Gahr.

“Their observations will inform the development of the parks master plan.”
