Coldstream wants an end to parking woes at Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park.
Council is seeking a meeting with the Ministry of Environment at September’s Union of B.C. Municipalities convention to discuss parking at Kal park, and particularly Cosens Bay Road and the red gate on Kidston Road.
“There have been issues with parking and vehicles parking half-way up the road,” said Coun. Glen Taylor.
“There needs to be upgrades for safety and parking availability.”
While at UBCM in Victoria, Coldstream officials hope to pursue other major issues with provincial ministers, including water infrastructure funding.
However, Coun. Gyula Kiss is concerned about what Coldstream and the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee will be asking for.
“If they use the right plan, there is no problem. But if they use provincial funds for a plan that dumps treated water on to agricultural land, I have a problem with that,” he said.
Council also wants to meet with Agriculture Minister Norm Letnick about enforcing rules on property in the Agricultural Land Reserve.
“These are complaints arising from gravel pits or trucking companies on agricultural land,” said Mayor Jim Garlick.
A meeting is also being pursued with Environment Minister Mary Polak over the Multi-Material B.C. recycling program.
