A Vernon pedestrian was listed in serious but stable condition in Vernon Jubilee Hospital Wednesday, the day after being pinned between two vehicles in downtown Vernon.

The 73-year-old man was standing behind his vehicle on 31st Avenue, near the intersection of 34th Street, when he was pinned by another vehicle, driven by an 81-year-old man.

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP have called the incident “totally accidental,” and that there was “no criminal element” to the incident.

The driver of the vehicle was said to be very emotionally shaken up.

A mechanical inspection will be done on the vehicle that struck the pedestrian.
