Penticton Press and Bindery (Webco), operating on Camrose Street, is being consolidated with its sister plant in Vernon, Cariboo Press.

“The restructuring requirement was precipitated by the decision of a commercial print client (Aberdeen Publishing Inc.) to relocate the printing of their weekly newspapers to other press locations,” said Shannon Simpson, group publisher, South Okanagan, Penticton Western News/Black Press.

Aberdeen has made the decision to move the printing of Kamloops This Week, Merritt Herald, Peachland View, Oliver Chronicle and the Osoyoos Times.

“This does not in any way impact our continual commitment to our community newspapers serving the vast readership in the South Okanagan region including the Penticton Western News,” said Simpson of the newspaper which operates out of the adjoined building shared by Webco.

Bruce McAuliffe, president for B.C. South Black Press, said the total aggregated audience (print and online readership) for the Penticton Western News continues to grow at a rapid pace.

“The newspaper has a very strong position in the Penticton (and area) marketplace as they continue to strengthen their print and digital presence,” said McAuliffe.
