Police find basement grow-op

Two men from outside of the North Okanagan are facing charges in connection with the latest grow-op discovered by police.

Officers executed a Criminal Code warrant for theft of telecommunication at a home on Pinecrest Road, off of Westside Road, on May 27.

“Two men at the home, one aged 31 from Creston, the other, aged 25, from Kelowna, were arrested for theft of hydro, which is the same as theft of telecommunication under the Criminal Code,” explained Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

After police cleared the home, they discovered a marijuana grow-op in the basement.

Police seized 926 marijuana plants, a quantity of dried marijuana and some suspected cocaine from the home.

The two men were released from custody on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
