Police investigate potential hit-and-run

GRINDROD: Man found on side of road with injuries consistent with being struck by vehicle

One man suffered serious injuries in what may have been a North Okanagan hit-and-run incident.

Shortly after 6:30 p.m. Monday, RCMP were called to Old Sicamous Road and Grandview Bench Road in Grindrod where B.C. Ambulance Services personnel were dealing with a 56-year-old man at that location whose injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

The man, who was located on the side of the road by a vehicle passing by, was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

“RCMP spoke with numerous people but were unable to locate anyone who had witnessed the actual collision,” said RCMP Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

The pedestrian is believed to have been walking home from Armstrong.

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP are asking to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident, or has any information that may help the investigation.

“In particular, RCMP would like to speak with the driver of a red, small crew cab pickup that was seen in the area,” said Noseworthy.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Armstrong RCMP Detachment at 250-546-3028 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
