RCMP are dealing with a crime wave in Okanagan Landing.
At least three houses were reported broken into Sunday and early Monday, while one truck was stolen.
“I’m assuming there may be more coming out of this,” said Cpl. Gerry Kovacs of further incidents being discovered.
The first call came in at 7 p.m. Sunday when a resident returned to the 6000 block of Longacre Drive after being away for the weekend. They found their home illegally entered.
“Jewelry and electronic items were reported missing,” said Kovacs.
At about 10 p.m., a resident arrived home in the 4000 block of 25th Avenue. Their home had been broken into and a set of keys allowed the suspect to steal a Ford pickup truck.
A third call came from the 7000 block of Longacre Drive Monday at about 4 a.m.
The homeowner woke up to hear noises in the garage and they went to investigate.
“The owner yelled at the suspect and the suspect took off,” said Kovacs.
RCMP were soon on scene and while the previously stolen pickup truck was recovered, the suspect could not be located.
“Maybe there was another vehicle left in the area and they departed that way,” said Kovacs.
It’s believed that entry to some of the homes may have been through unlocked windows.
“Ensure vehicles are locked and houses and outdoor buildings are secure,” said Kovacs.
The investigation continues and anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call the Vernon RCMP.
