Police seeking witnesses

Lumby RCMP are asking for witnesses to come forward to help them with an alleged drinking and driving case.

Lumby RCMP are asking for witnesses to come forward to help them with an alleged drinking and driving case.

The incident involved a rollover motor vehicle accident during the early hours of Saturday on Creighton Valley Road.

Police speculate a red Ford F150 with a female driver left a local establishment and lost control on Creighton Valley Road. When officers arrived on the scene, the truck was on its roof, but nobody was around, leading them to believe the driver had fled or been picked up.

A short time later, police report the driver’s husband arrived and they allege he, too, had had too much to drink.

His licence was suspended for 24 hours by the investigating officer and his vehicle was impounded.

Police report officers followed up at the couple’s residence, and they allege the female driver refused to co-operate or even speak with police.

The investigation is continuing as Lumby RCMP believe the Ford may have struck other vehicles before losing control.

Witnesses are asked to call the police at 250-547-2151, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
