A marijuana grow-op has been taken down in Lumby.

On Tuesday, RCMP officers searched a residence in the 2100 block of Mountain View Avenue and 1,015 marijuana plants were found inside – 721 mature plants and 294 clones.

“Police also discovered a Hydro bypass and 36 high-watt grow lights,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.

“The home has been posted under Lumby’s drug bylaw.”

A 36-year-old man was arrested and he will appear in court at a later date to face charges of possession for the purpose, production of marijuana and theft of telecommunications (Hydro).

“Here is another example of a grow operation in a residential area of the community,” said Molendyk.

“It is part of our ongoing national strategy to combat marijuana grow operations.”
