Leadership has been established for the 2017 Vernon 55-Plus B.C. Games.

Wee Yee has been named president of the organization, which will oversee planning for the Sept. 12 to 16, 2017 event.

“I look forward to applying my 25-plus years of volunteering in leading the volunteer team to deliver a successful 30th anniversary edition of the 55-Plus B.C. Games,” said Yee.

“Our area has a strong resource of volunteers, facilities and a supportive business community that will contribute significantly to the success of the games.”

“Wee is an excellent choice for president of the 2017 55-Plus B.C. Games as his experience with Funtastic and the Calgary Stampede provide him with the knowledge and organizational skills to succeed,” said Akbal Mund, Vernon mayor.

Over the next month, planning for the games will involve Yee approaching individuals to serve as directors on the local host society.Once directors are in place in May, they will begin building their volunteer teams.

“We are sure the partnering communities will get behind Wee and support him as he begins his journey planning and delivering the 55-Plus Games in 2017,” said Wayne Naka, president of the B.C. Seniors Games Society
