Progress continues to be made on a Spallumcheen fire.

Crws remain on scene at the fire, which broke out Thursday on the hillside above Highway 97A and Hutley Road.

“The report from the crew is it looks good and everything is stable,” said Ian Cummings, Armstrong-Spallumcheen fire chief, Saturday morning.

The primary task overnight Friday was tackling hot spots.

“The crew worked hard and that will continue for awhile,” said Cummings.

The status of the fire will largely depend on weather over the next few days.

“Cooler temperatures will help and we’d be grateful for some precipitation,” said Cummings.

“We’re worried about the potential for wind but we’ll handle it.”
