Property tax deadline looms in Vernon

The City of Vernon is reminding residents that property taxes are due July 4.

The City of Vernon is reminding residents that property taxes are due July 4.

Late payment of taxes will result in a 10 per cent penalty.

“In the event of a Canada Post strike or lockout, property owners are also responsible for ensuring payment is received by the due date. Postmarks are not accepted as payment date,” said Tanya Laing Gahr, communications officer.

Payments can be made in person at city hall, online through a financial institution (allow four to five business days for the city to receive payment or by post-dated cheque presented at city hall.

Property owners claiming the homeowner grant, if eligible, must apply prior to July 4. Homeowner grants can be claimed at www.vernon.ca.
