Vernon residents are being asked for input on how best to remember a respected community advocate.

The city asked for public suggestions on how to honour Patrick Nicol, a longtime councillor who died in January. An open house to discuss those ideas is being held at city hall April 29 from 5 to 7 p.m.

“We have received some great responses for our request for ideas to honour Patrick Nicol,” said Coun. Juliette Cunningham, a member of a committee overseeing the process.

“This will be an opportunity to explore a final concept which is being proposed.”

In remembering Nicol, the committee asked for suggestions that reflected Nicol’s values, could be accessed by the entire community and that built on existing infrastructure.

“I hope for a strong showing at the open house to discuss the best ways to move these ideas forward,” said Cunningham.
