If you are driving to Kelowna's airport early Saturday morning, be prepared for delays and to use a detour route.

As part of preparation for turning the former CN Rail corridor into a future trail, the railway tracks at YLW's main entrance will be removed and the road portion repaved Saturday, Oct. 15 between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m.

While track removal and re-paving occurs, a temporary detour will be in place. Motorists are asked to obey traffic personnel and follow the detour route and signs.

During the work time, there may be minor traffic delays at the airport entrance.

Travellers flying out of YLW Saturday morning are advised to allow extra time to arrive at the airport.

The airport regularly recommends travellers arrive two hours early for domestic flights and 2 1/2 hours early for international flights in order to clear security.

Recently, there have been very long lines to get through security at the airport for early morning flights.
