Red carpet being rolled out for film premiere

Blackway will be seen for the time at the Starlight Drive-In in Enderby June 2.

Enthusiasm is building for a one-of-a-kind premiere of a major motion picture.

Blackway will be seen for the time at the Starlight Drive-In in Enderby June 2.

“It’s going to be packed,” said Rick Dugdale, president of Enderby Entertainment, which is named after his hometown.

“There are still some tickets to give away so we are ramping that up.”

Tickets can be accessed at www.bratie.com/bratiefied-media/EnderbyENTBLACKwayGIVEaway?mediaId=883&html5=true.

Only ticket-holders will have access to the private event and the site can hold 300 cars (and as many people as can fit in those vehicles).

Blackway, which is R-rated, was shot in the North Okanagan in late 2014 and it stars Anthony Hopkins, Ray Liotta, Alexander Ludwig and Julia Stiles.

It’s still not known if any of the actors will be at the premiere because of commitments promoting the film.

“We are juggling schedules. If someone is in New York on June 1, how do we get them back for June 2?” said Dugdale.

Planning is well underway for the June 2 event.

“We are treating it like a premier that they would have in Los Angeles. It’s something that will have never been seen there before,” said Dugdale. “It’s going to be a lot of fun but I’m not sure what’s more work, making a film or releasing a film.”

Blackway will open June 10 at Vernon Towne Cinema.

Along with launching Blackway, Dugdale is currently casting for his new movie, Nomis, which will begin shooting in the North Okanagan in September.
