A Vernon youth was struck by a vehicle while walking to school Thursday.

The incident happened at the intersection of 34th Street and Okanagan Avenue.

RCMP say the youth sustained minor injuries and was treated by Emergency Health Services personnel.

“The student’s mother picked the youth up and took him to school,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelly Brett.

A Motor Vehicle Act charge of failing to yield was issued to the driver.
