Low ticket sales have scuttled a North Okanagan fundraiser.
The board of the Restorative Justice Society – North Okanagan has announced it is postponing its second annual Creative Justice Gala.
The event was slated for Friday at the Best Western Plus Vernon Lodge Hotel.
“Part of the reason is that we are competing with a lot of other events,” said society executive director Margaret Clark.
Restorative justice is a community-based service that provides an alternative approach for dealing with crime and wrong-doing.
Last year’s inaugural event, which raises money for the society’s program, attracted about 100 people and raised nearly $4,000.
The gala features artisans creating an individual piece of art that is auctioned off that evening.
Clark said the society is working on finding another date for the gala.
Those who had already purchased tickets will be contacted by the society for refunds.
