A 30-year-old Revelstoke man was arrested earlier this month after seriously injuring a woman by pinning her between two vehicles in the community’s downtown core.

On June 15, in the early morning, the Revelstoke RCMP were alerted to an incident where a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in the parking lot behind the Regent Hotel.

When they arrived, police found a 25-year-old female who had sustained a ‘serious injury’ to her leg after being pinned between two vehicles. She was later transported to Queen Victoria Hospital.

After investigating, it was determined that the man, who is known to the woman, intentionally backed the vehicle into her, pinned her between the two vehicles causing injury, then fled the scene.

After being located, the man was arrested by police before later being released. He will appear in Revelstoke Provincial Court on Aug. 2. The man’s name will not be released at this time as he has not been formally charged.

“This was a very troubling incident where it appears the accused used the vehicle as a weapon to injure the victim,” said Sgt. Chris Dodds of the Revelstoke RCMP.

Police will be recommending multiple charges to Crown Counsel including Aggravated Assault, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm and Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident.

Revelstoke RCMP Victims Services Unit is engaged with the woman who was struck.

The Revelstoke RCMP are asking anyone with photos or video of the incident to call them at 250-837-5255, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or on-line at bccrimestoppers.com.
