There will be no jail time for a Vernon man who tried to rob the downtown branch of Scotiabank in 2009.
Eugene Kenneth Olaf Seeber, 25, pleaded guilty in Vancouver Provincial Court this week to one count of robbery in connection with the Vernon incident.
The judge gave Seeber a one-year conditional sentence, placed him on 18-months probation upon the completion of the sentence and a 10-year firearms prohibition.
On Nov. 6, 2009, a Friday, Vernon RCMP responded to an alarm at the Scotiabank on 30th Avenue shortly before 2:30 p.m.
Police report a man had entered the bank and handed a teller a note. He did not produce a weapon and left the bank empty-handed.
A man was arrested in the vicinity of the bank a short time later.
Seeber also pleaded guilty to breach of an undertaking and was given one-month probation.
