Rope-team rescues man from Vernon cliff

The incident occurred in the 4000 block of Bella Vista Road Monday afternoon

A seriously injured man had to be rescued from a Vernon cliff Monday.

Vernon Search and Rescue's rope crew descended on the 4000 block of Bella Vista Road at about 4 p.m. after receiving reports of an individual in trouble.

"He is quite badly injured," said Pete Wise, search manager.

The back side of Turtle Mountain created some challenges.

"It's very steep with loose, broken rock," said Wise.

"They were able to bring him down the mountain to an ambulance."

Wise is urging people to be aware of their surroundings before hiking into an area, and particularly Turtle Mountain.

"It's a nasty fall," he said.
