Scooter located

The local RCMP detachment seized a scooter following an unusual incident Nov. 7

Anybody missing a blue Gio electric scooter may want to contact the Vernon RCMP.

The local detachment seized a scooter following an unusual incident Nov. 7 at a Vernon medical supply store at around 4:30 p.m.

“Two men and a woman were in the store speaking to store employees about a blue Gio electric scooter,” said RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk. “They said the battery had died and it needed charging.”

When the employee started to ask questions a bit further, the three people took off on 30th Avenue

The employee reported the three suspicious people to the Vernon detachment. Patrols were made for the suspects but they could not be located.

It appears there is no vehicle identification number or model number left on the scooter, and Molendyk said it also appears that there has been some tampering with the ignition.

“The keys were stuck in the lock of the battery compartment. However, the battery was missing,” he said.

Police have seized the scooter which, they feel, has likely been stolen and continue to investigate further.

If you have had your scooter stolen lately, it’s at the Vernon-North Okanagan detachment. Phone 250-545-7171 to identify and claim it.
