Vernon seniors deserve better than what they’re getting from the Liberal government, say the New Democrats.
NDP seniors critic Katrine Conroy and Vernon-Monashee candidate Mark Olsen met recently with the Seniors’ Information and Resource Bureau to discuss seniors’ issues.
“Seniors are wondering when the Liberal government will take real action to stand up for them, including making good on their promise to appoint a seniors’ advocate,” said Conroy, adding that after the ombudsperson unveiled a scathing report into the government’s treatment of seniors, the Liberals made a grudging promise to appoint an advocate.
“Seniors and their families have been asking for such an office for years, and the opposition first introduced the Representative for Seniors Act in 2007.”
Olsen says he has heard from residents about access to long-term care and Pharmacare.
“Appointing a seniors advocate would be a simple, practical step to change things for the better for our seniors,” said Olsen.
