Serious crash closes Highway 97A

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP say two vehicles involved; one person seriously injured; traffic re-routed

Update: 7:35 p.m.

North Okanagan RCMP are on the scene of a serious two vehicle collision on Highway 97A, near Powerhouse Road in Armstrong. The highway is closed in both directions while traffic services investigate.

A detour is available around Armstrong via Pleasant Valley Road.

Highway 97A will be closed until further notice.

Highway 97A is closed in both directions south of Armstrong following a motor-vehicle accident.

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP say two vehicles were involved with one person suffering serious injuries.

The accident happened between Tim Hortons and Rosedale Avenue, according to one eyewitness.

Traffic is being re-routed around the scene via Pleasant Valley Road.

The highway is expected to be closed for some time as the investigation continues.
