Serious crash slows Highway 97 traffic into Vernon

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP, BCAS and BX Swan Lake Fire Department firefighters are on the scene of a serious crash on Highway 97 in the southbound lane heading into Vernon

Highway 97 is seeing a significant backup in the southbound lane and it is recommended that drivers avoid the area.

The incident happened between Elmwood Road and Meadowlark Road. A detour is available via Pleasant Valley Road. Northbound traffic is not impacted by the rescue effort.

The vehicle involved in the crash is not visible from the road, and it appears that it went off the embankment.
