Severe thunderstorm warning issued for the Okanagan

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for the Okanagan on Saturday, June 24.

Environment Canada issued the warning at 1:22 p.m. for Penticton, Kelowna and Vernon, with conditions “favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms.”

The federal weather department says there is a 60 per cent chance of showers or thunderstorms in all three cities.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall,” the warning reads.
