An Okanagan Landing neighbourhood is getting sewer.
Vernon council has approved the extension of the sewer line to 22 properties on Tronson and Beachcomber Bay roads.
Of the properties, only 12 agreed to the $330,000 cost, which the property owners will repay the city for.
“Fifty-four per cent can inflict this on the rest of the people and I have a problem with that,” said Coun. Bob Spiers.
The city will be responsible for a $315,000 sewer lift station.
City willing to provide service
Vernon wants to be the catalyst for economic growth in the North Okanagan.
The Regional District of North Okanagan is considering its options for economic development and the city says it will provide the service on a contract or project basis.
“It’s a task-by-task basis instead of initiating a full blown service with salaries,” said Coun. Patrick Nicol, who is also RDNO chairperson.
