Motorists travelling along 39th Avenue this week may have to take a brief detour while crews make upgrades to the sanitary sewer system.

Starting at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, 39th Avenue will be closed to through traffic between 23rd and 25th streets. The area will be accessible to local traffic only.

The work is expected to be completed the following day by 3:30 p.m. Please note, these times may change if emergencies arise. Every effort will be made to minimize disruptions.

The city is also alerting residents that crews will be conducting sewer line inspections and maintenance this week throughout the downtown core.

The work will be done during the overnight hours when flow levels in the system are at their lowest.

Between now and June 10, crews will be working at various locations throughout the downtown, between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., inspecting lines and relining them where necessary.

Temporary lane closures will be required in areas where crews are working.

Motorists who are traveling in the area at night are asked to watch for crew members, slow down in work areas, and follow all traffic control measures.
