Management at Silver Star Mountain Resort continues to evolve.
Ian Grant, chief executive officer since 2005, is moving back to his native Australia in June to spend more time with his family.
“The real highlight for me was building and working with a very strong team,” said Grant of his time at Silver Star.
“The people at Silver Star are clever, talented, hardworking and are absolutely dedicated to the resort.”
Michael Sherwood recently departed as the resort’s general manager to pursue new challenges.
Grant will stay on during the transition and work closely with Brad Baker, who has been appointed acting general manager. Grant will then be available for special projects as required.
“Ian helped create a very strong management team at Silver Star that is well placed to guide the resort into the future,” said Jane Cann, Silver Star president.
“The management team cares passionately about creating an excellent guest experience and has absolute faith in our product. These are exciting times and we are very confident about the years ahead.”
During Grant’s time at Silver Star, the resort has faced the global recession and a period of expansion, including the addition of the Silver Woods quad chair, the Alpine Meadows quad chair, Snowbird Lodge and Firelight Lodge.
“We’ve expanded our operations into the summer with the construction of one of the best bike parks in B.C., we’ve created growth by providing industry innovations like the all-inclusive My1Pass and we’ve become a community partner through the support of initiatives like the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation, the Relay for Life and many more,” said Grant.
