Silver Star rallies behind health care

Emergency Services Day raised $13,000 for Vernon Jubilee Hospital's emergency department.

Health care in the North Okanagan has received a major boost.

Silver Star Mountain Resort’s second annual Emergency Services Day raised $13,000 for Vernon Jubilee Hospital’s emergency department.

“The dedication from Silver Star Mountain Resort and the emergency service groups who took part in this event contributes significantly to the well-being of our community members in need of urgent medical care,” said Sue Beaudry, Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation executive director.

Funds were raised through Silver Star’s donation of $20 from every lift ticket sold Jan. 21.

Emergency Service Day crowds gathered to watch demonstrations from nine local emergency services teams taking place through the day.

“The ability to showcase the skills and equipment that these highly trained groups possess and deliver to those in need of help is truly amazing, and will for sure make this an annual event going forward,” said Brad Baker, Silver Star’s director of operations.
