WIldfire crews have taken over a small blaze in Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park, and they have the upper hand.
A spot size fire was sparked in the trees of the park Friday around 2:30 p.m. The 20 by 30 metre fire is a rank one, smouldering ground fire and crews are confident they will have it under control shortly.
“The Coldstream Fire Department was on site initially but now we will be taking it over,” said Kelsey Winter, B.C. Wildfire Service fire information officer.
A three-person crew is on scene.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but not believed to be lightning caused.
“It’s under investigation but believed to be human-caused,” said Winter.
