The federal government will help the Township of Spallumcheen celebrate its 125th birthday next year.
The township will receive $70,600 to help carry out celebration activities.
“It’s allocated over two years but we’ll use it mostly in one year,” said Coun. Joe Van Tienhoven.
The money will be dispersed in the governemnt’s fiscal years of 2016-17 and 2017-18.
Spallumcheen turns 125 in 2017, and Canada turns 150 in the same year.
The funding comes from the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program.
