Consistent flood levels have Spallumcheen remaining on alert.

The townships’s Emergency Operations Centre has been operating at level 1 and will continue until flooding levels on Pleasant Valley Road decrease to a reasonable level.

Meanwhile more than 70 Spallumcheen residents came out to Monday’s town hall meeting. Presentations from Interior Health related to septic issues and well and small water system information were heard. Two members of Emergency Managements BC also provided information on the Disaster Financial Assistance program. Agency representatives from the RCMP, fire chief, building inspector, Red Cross and Emergency Social Services were also on hand.

Those needing assistance can access forms for DFA at: http://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/emergency-preparedness-response-recovery/emergency-response-and-recovery/disaster-financial-assistance/forms-and-information.

Flood watch is continuing in the area and anyone with an emergency situation is asked to call 911. For public works emergencies after hours call 250-546-3013.

“Please be advised the area is assessed multiple times daily and will be managed by the township’s public works department,” states a Spallumcheen press release issued Tuesday.
