Spallumcheen has announced a pair of temporary, and one permanent, staff moves.
Chief financial officer Amy Vienneau has been named interim chief administrative officer, taking over from Corey Paiement, who left the township last week to join the Columbia Shuswap Regional District in Salmon Arm.
“I’d like to thank everybody for the demonstration of confidence in this transition,” said Vienneau. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to serve council and the community of Spallumcheen. It’s business as usual until we have a new CAO.”
Vienneau will still be in charge of the township’s finances.
Cindy Graves, deputy corporate officer, has been named interim corporate officer.
“I look forward to rising to the challenge and look forward to working with Amy in her new capacity,” said Graves. “I also look forward to supporting our countless residents.”
Said Mayor Janice Brown of the moves: “We have very good staff here, so we’d like to thank both ladies for stepping up to the plate.”
The moves are temporary until a permanent replacement for Paiement is hired.
The township also announced that Roger Huston will be joining staff as its new public works manager.
Huston is coming from Penticton but was a former public works employee in the Village of Lumby.
He takes over from Ed Forslund, who is retiring.
“We hired Ed temporarily five years ago,” chuckled Brown. “He was happy to help us out and we kind of twisted his arm to stay on.”
Huston begins his position on Jan. 30.
