The Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Department will likely be on-scene throughout the day Friday, June 9, of a fire that destroyed a Spallumcheen home.
The local department was called before 6 a.m. to a report of a fire at a home on Hutley Road South.
“It was a fully involved structure fire when we arrived,” said Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Chief Ian Cummings from the scene. “There were some spot fires that spread to the interface so we called in B.C. Wildfire Service, and their response was terrific.
“We also received support from BX-Swan Lake (fire department) with water and manpower.”
The occupants of the home got out safely and there are no reported injuries. They’ve also been in contact with Emergency Social Services.
The cause of the fire has not been released.
The B.C. Wildfire Service crew has left after finishing its mop-up of the interface.
• Another B.C. Wildfire Service Crew is on the Becker Lake Forest Service Road east of Vernon mopping up stages of a small wildfire reported Thursday evening, June 8.
The call came in just after 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The B.C. Wildfire Service lists the fire as under control.
