RCMP officers will be checking this week for speeding motorists in school zones.
“Are they going to be in every school zone? Not likely,” said RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk. “But you never know when they will be there.”
Speed limits are reduced to 30 km/hour in school zones from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, while schools are in session.
School buses, of course, are on the road and police remind motorists to use caution around the big yellow vehicles.
“You must stop for school buses when their red lights are flashing,” said Molendyk.
“Be careful about kids crossing the roads for the buses.”
