Another film with a major Hollywood actor is being shot in the North Okanagan.

Wesley Snipes is the headliner in The Recall, a sci-fi, action thriller, being shot at the former Far West building in Vernon.

“We couldn’t be more proud to work with a young cast and the talented Wesley Snipes to create a film that sci-fi audiences will be excited to see,” said Kevin Dewalt, chief executive officer of Minds Eye Entertainment.

“We are also delighted to be shooting the film in Vernon and the stunning Okanagan Valley.”

Snipes has appeared in a number of movies, including Blade, Passenger 57 and Murder At 1600.

In The Recall, which is being directed by Mauro Borrelli, five friends vacation at a remote lake house. They expect nothing less than a good time, unaware that planet Earth is under an alien invasion and mass-abduction.

Regina-based Minds Eye is working with Bridgegate Pictures and VMI Worldwide and The Recall is the first film of a six-picture production.

While working on the film, Minds Eye has also established an office in Vernon.

“This is a huge deal for the Okanagan,” said Jon Summerland, with the Okanagan Film Commission.

“It means that we are producing films and TV domestically from within the Okanagan instead off always searching for productions and providing service work for them.

Two years ago, Enderby Entertainment filmed Blackway, starring Anthony Hopkins, in the North Okanagan.
