An alleged altercation at a Vernon house party left one guest with possible life-threatening injuries.

Vernon RCMP officers were sent to a report of aggravated assault Saturday at 9:15 p.m. after a call from ambulance personnel stating a man had been stabbed in the 3700 block of 27th Street.

“An altercation took place at a house party when an argument between two people broke out,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

The victim of the stabbing, a 26-year-old Vernon man, had a two-inch stab wound on his left lower abdomen and was transported to Vernon Jubilee Hospital for treatment of a possible life-threatening injury.

A 25-year-old Vernon woman was later arrested for aggravated assault.

Molendyk said the two individuals had been in a prior relationship

She has been released from custody on conditions, and is slated to appear in Vernon Provincial Court at a later date.

The file remains under police investigation.
