All Regional District Central Okanagan (RDCO) water systems are now under Stage 2 restrictions.

This includes Star Place, Falcon Ridge, Killiney Beach, Sunset Ranch, Upper Fintry/Shalal Road/Valley of the Sun and Westshore.

Outdoor watering is restricted to two days a week, on Saturdays and Tuesdays for even numbered addresses, and Sundays and Wednesdays for odd numbered addresses.

Automated sprinklers should only water between 12 and 6 a.m. on designated days, and manual irrigation is restricted between 6 and 11 a.m., and 6 and 12 p.m. during designated days.

“By following the outdoor watering restrictions, residents will help ensure that system reservoirs are replenished and there’s an adequate water supply for everyone,” states an RDCO media release.

A Low winter snowpack, low precipitation and warmer than normal temperatures has also prompted a Level 2 drought rating in the Okanagan.

Water restrictions are expected to remain in place until September 15, and further measures may be implemented if drought conditions worsen.
