There was an accident at Stickle Road and Highway 97 Friday.

An accident at a notorious intersection sent one person to hospital Friday.

At 8:22 am, RCMP responded to a two-vehicle accident at Highway 97 and Stickle Rd just north of Vernon.

"The scene examination and investigation has permitted investigators to determine that a southbound black Toyota Rav4 SUV swerved to avoid a black Ford F350 towing a large fifth-wheel trailer that was entering the highway at Stickle Road," said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.

"The two vehicles collided and the Rav4 then struck the centre median and flipped on to its roof."

First responders extracted the driver of the Rav4, a 41 year old woman, who was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The occupants of the truck and trailer were not injured.

The investigation into the accident continues.
