Storm brings big smiles at Silver Star

Nordic skiing at the resort is set to open Friday while it also begins that day at Sovereign Lake.

North Okanagan skiers are flashing big smiles.

Valley-bottom rain translated into more than 30 centimetres of snow over 24 hours at Silver Star Mountain Resort on the weekend.

“Winter is here,” said Milli Cann, guest relations manager.

As a result, nordic skiing is set to open Friday while the tentative date for alpine skiing to begin is Nov. 28.

Cross-country skiing begins at Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre Friday.
