Students receive funding

The North Okanagan-Shuswap School District receives funds to support students with special needs and struggling readers.

More resources are being directed towards helping local children learn.

The North Okanagan-Shuswap School District is receiving $788,080 to support students with special needs and $129,020 for struggling readers at school.

The Vernon School District is getting $898,788 for students with special needs and $164,241 for struggling readers at school.

“We have listened to the concerns and priorities of students, families, and teachers in B.C., and we are responding with the resources to support special needs children and move forward with the B.C. Education Plan,” said George Abbott, Shuswap MLA.

“I am happy to see this money going back to the school district, where it will help ensure a strong system of support for special needs students and their educators,” added Eric Foster, Vernon-Monashee MLA.
