Curtis Wilson’s parents were in Vernon recently to mark the one-year anniversary since his disappearance at Kalamalka Lake’s Cosens Bay.

A coroners report says a suicide pact was made between Shane Letkeman, whose body was found in Kalamalka Lake last summer, and the man he was travelling with whose body has yet to be found.

Curtis Wilson, of Alberta, was with Letkeman  in the Cosens Bay area and was last heard from on June 27, 2015.

“Investigation revealed that Mr. Letkeman and another male had formed a suicide pact,” coroner Margaret Janzen’s report reads. “On June 27, 2015, Mr. Letkeman and the other male sent messages to family and friends alluding to suicide, saying goodbye and that they loved them. Family members reported this to RCMP.”

It goes on to say that Letkeman’s phone was broken but review of the other cell phone (Wilson’s) revealed messages between the two indicating their intention to kill themselves in a suicide pact.

The report also says a toxicology analysis revealed high levels of Methamphetamine and fentanyl.

But Wilson’s family is not happy with report.

“There was a lot of inaccurate statements made,” said Shanna Wilson, Curtis’ sister, of the coroner’s report. “Labelling it as a suicide pact with no evidence of this, I feel, isn’t right.

“Curtis did not reach out to family to say goodbyes or I love you’s.”

Shanna also questions the information received from Curtis’ phone.

“No one has ever been able to get into Curtis’ phone at all. There are no records from his phone that were obtained by police or family.”

The Wilson family is still planning on having searchers look for Curtis’ body, which has never surfaced.
